The first few days in Benoni
as we see the family and settle in
Thursday 5th - Saturday 7th
March 2026

Des picked us up from
the airport and one of our first visits was to see Mom,
who happened to have another guest... her beloved Snowy! |
|

Meanwhile, another of
Mom's guests took a shine to Geoff. |
|
|
|
| |
|
| |
Our home during our
stay... the flat in Des & Jenny's back garden, which
Justin had very kindly given up for us. |
|
|

| |
We had lunch at "Orexi",
a Greek street food restaurant close to the house. It was
really good. |
|
|

|
| |
|
|
| |
That evening, Des &
Jenny invited us and Mom for dinner. Today was her actual
birthday, but the official dinner gathering was only planned
for tomorrow evening. Despite her protestations, we insisted
that Mom had a few sips of bubbly to mark the occasion.
She seemed to enjoy it! |

charge of the braai. |

|
Knowing that we enjoy
walking, Des took us out this morning to Korsman Bird Sanctuary.
We walked twice around the perimeter, a total distance of
5.2km, stopping frequently to take photos of the birds...
and some of the expensive looking houses that surround the
pan. |

We had enjoyed our meal
at Orexi so much yesterday that we went back there a second
time. |
