|
|

and leave India in the evening
from the port of Chennai, as we sail towards Sri
Lanka.

After enjoying lunch
at the Taj Connemara, we reboarded the same coach from our
morning excursion and made the short drive to the port.
There, the familiar and welcoming sight of the Hebridean
Sky greeted us. But embarking wasn’t as simple as
just strolling up the gangplank. This was, after all, India,
and we were about to exit the country, bound for Sri Lanka.
That meant procedures. Lots of them. A full round of checks,
passport stamps, luggage scans, more checks, more stamps,
each step seemingly more meticulous than the last. Only
after navigating this bureaucratic gauntlet were we finally
cleared to cross from the cruise terminal to the ship. |

Once aboard, we could
relax completely. There was a welcome tea and cake, served
with some delicious bubbly. Before long, we were in our
cabin and we had enough time to unpack fully before the
obligatory safety drill was called. |

| We enjoyed a delicious dinner on the lido
deck and at 8:00pm, while we were still dining, the ship glided
out of the port for our 295 nautical mile voyage to Trincomalee,
Sri Lanka. |
