Santa Severina
from the Calabrian port of Crotone

Friday 26th May 2017

We arrived in Crotone as we were finishing our lunch. No time was wasted disembarking or boarding the coaches for a thirty minute drive, through some beautiful countryside, to the hilltop town of Santa Severina.
These photos were taken from the coach as we drove up to the town.

The main square in Santa Severina.

Our first visit was to the Byzantine baptistry.

La Cattedrale di Santa Anastasia, in the main square.

Castello di Santa Severina

After the guided tour of the castle had ended, we had some free time to explore the town.

Back on the coach, it was only a short drive to Agriturismo Le Puzelle...

... where we were treated to an array of delicious Calabrian delicacies.
just a light meal to keep us going between lunch and dinner!

Afterwards, we had some free time to enjoy the rural setting and to take in the views.
