The day was finally here, more than
a year after booking our holiday. We had been looking forward
to it very much. |

The flight was pleasant, the service and the food were
good and there was no shortage of champagne!

The sun was just beginning to set
as we came in to land in Athens |

|
While we were waiting for our luggage
to arrive, we spotted two familiar faces. Luckily, the couple
we thought we recognised also recognised us and we re-introduced
ourselves to Linda and Brian. At first, we couldn't recall
where we had met, but after a joint, rapid process of elimination,
we concluded that we had been on a Baltic cruise together
in July 2011. We were very pleased to see them again!

Our hotel, the Grande Bretagne. This
picture was taken two years previously, but nothing had changed
so I've re-used it. This time, we were given one of the balcony
rooms that can be seen in the picture, on the first floor.
We couldn't help the feeling of déjà vu; even
the two tour reps who gave us our welcome packs were the same
ones who met us the last time! |

Now this picture is cheating. It was
also taken two years ago, but because we went back to the
same restaurant, The Cricket and the Ant, and it still looked
exactly the same, I think that's probably alright! (Of course,
Geoff still looks exactly the same too!) By chance, we met
Linda and Brian there and were invited to join them. We
had a delicious and very reasonably priced meal. |

After dinner, we went back to the
hotel and had an early night. We were looking forward to our day
of independent sightseeing in the morning. |
