9th -11th March 2010. A couple of days to experience Singapore en-route from Sydney to London

9th March 2010

We arrived at Changi Airport at 10:30pm. Knowing that it was going to be a late arrival, we had arranged in advance for the hotel to send a car to pick us up. What we didn't know was that we were going to be met at the door of the plane, put on an airport buggy and whisked through the VIP lounge to our waiting car, bypassing immigration, baggage collection and customs! All we had to do was look in the boot of the car and confirm that they had correctly identified our baggage. It was a very good start!

10th March 2010

The morning was rainy and steamy. We thought we would walk somewhere, but quickly decided that a taxi would be best. Not sure where to go first, we decided to visit the newest shopping centre

No visit to Singapore can be complete without doing some recreational shopping along Orchard Street...

...and having a "Singapore Sling" at Raffles Hotel!

(...or should that have
been a Singapore Sting!)

After our visit to Raffles Hotel, the rain stopped and we thought we could walk back slowly to our hotel. It was a very hot walk!

The Ritz Carlton Hotel...

...with its tranquil pool setting...

...and its luxurious rooms!

Views from our room...

...and views from the bath!

More views from the room

That evening we enjoyed a sumptious buffet feast in the hotel

11th March 2010

Despite the huge meal last night, we forced ourselves to eat breakfast in the morning. The weather had turned warm and sunny and not as humid as yesterday, so we felt able to spend more time outdoors and therefore took a taxi to the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Of course, there is also more food, more Singapore slings and more relaxing to be done too!
Finally, the end of our five week trip and a few kilograms heavier than when we started, but It has been wonderful!
