A full day in Malaga

Friday 19th November 2021

The morning after the night before. This morning, we were supposed to be docked in Motril, not far up the coast, so that those wishing to go on the excursion to Granada and Alhambra would have the shortest journey inland. The strong winds of last night, however, meant that the ship would have had difficulty getting into the small harbour at Motril and so the decision was made to head straight for Malaga instead.

The planned excursion went ahead anyway, albeit with a slightly longer drive. The change to the itinerary didn't bother us. We weren't going to join the excursion anyway, because we had been to the Alhambra before. We were quite happy to use the time to explore Malaga by ourselves, especially as the weather had once again turned fine.

Churros and chocolate time! We had almost finished when Bruce lost his last churros to a man who walked past and snatched it off his plate and then proceeded to munch it from a distance whilst giving us a long story that we didn't understand. His need was clearly greater than Bruce's.

We enjoyed a somewhat larger than expected lunch at a restaurant called Cafe Andino, which specialises in dishes from South American countries.

After such a large lunch, we needed to walk back to the ship for a rest!

After dinner, we took another stroll into the old town.
