Macaronesia to Iberia and beyond
on the Hebridean Sky

21st April - 3rd May 2022 (originally 5th May)

Less than five months after disembarking from the Hebridean Sky in Malaga, we were happy to embark on another voyage on the same ship. We were the last passengers to leave the ship in November, before it spent the winter months undergoing maintenance in Seville. It then sailed south to Cape Verde to pick up a new group of travellers who finished their voyage in Tenerife on the same day that we arrived to sail all the way back to England.

The pandemic wasn't over, but there were signs that its effects were becoming less life-threatening. That said, it was still being taken seriously and when one of the passengers, along with several crew members, tested positive on the day that we visited Coimbra in Portugal, a decision was taken to sail non-stop back to Portsmouth and not to call into the remaining ports in Spain, France and Guernsey. It was of course disappointing, but we understood the reasons behind the decision and were grateful that we had seen as much as we had. We arrived back in Portsmouth two days earlier than originally scheduled.
