Varenna was
probably our favourite town. Very pretty, and quieter than
Bellagio. It had some very good retaurants and shops, and,
of course, some excellent gelati! |

We walked up
to the Castello
di Vezio, where we got some fine views across Lake Como. |

| Of course, Varenna has its famous
villas, too. Indeed, it has two: Villa
Cipressi and Villa
Monastero. They were, we thought, the best of those we
visited. |
