A leisurely day exploring the Old Town

We enjoyed a big breakfast, including French toast, bacon & syrup, on the open deck to the accompaniment of church bells from ashore. Afterwards, we joined the coach tour, because it included a short drive along the coast to the Acropolis, passing some interesting sights along the way, including the stadium and views of the Turkish coast close by.

The organised tour continued on foot when we came back to the Old Town. We decided to do our own thing instead.

It is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Neither of us can remember what Geoff found so amusing at the time!
It was a very hot day and this seemed like a nice, shady spot for a drink to cool off. We became amused by the restaurant
owner's attempts to lure customers in and win them from his competitor across the white line, which ran half way through
the square, so we decided to stay for a bite to eat. It turned out to be a delicious meal, with free extras arriving all the time.

We returned to the ship after lunch. The heat was getting a bit much for Bruce!

Geoff, undaunted by the hot weather, walked back into town and did some more exploring.

Despite the big breakfast and huge lunch, we were treated to the special Greek meal in the restaurant that evening, including the Baklava/ Semolino pudding, which was much nicer than it sounded!
