Summer 2010: Dorset (with Jane & David)

In July 2010, we went to Dorset for a week.
We stayed at the Bella Vista Guest House in Swanage.

Saturday 3rd July: Swanage

Jane and David joined us for the first couple of days. Thank you to Jane for finding this lovely place to stay!

That evening we had an excellent meal at Chilled Red
and decided that we'd probably go back there again.

Sunday 4th July: A walk to Studland beach and back via Old Harry

It was good to rest a while and watch a cyclist make several attempts to get up the steep hill...
...he succeeded eventually!

Above: Swanage
Below: Sandbanks in the middle-distance

Drinks at the Bankes Arms, followed by sandwiches at the beach cafe

Jane and David's last night, so we celebrated Bruce's
birthday a few days early, with champagne at our
guest house (thank you, J&D!), followed by a meal
at the Ocean Bay restaurant.

Monday 5th July: A quiet day of walking and relaxing in Swanage

Bye-bye!

Being a Monday, there weren't many restaurants to choose from in the evening, but we had a pretty good meal at Tawny's Wine Bar.

Tuesday, 6th July: A day trip to Lyme Regis

We took a detour on our return trip to see Chesil Beach

For dinner that evening, we returned to the Ocean Bay

Wednesday, 7th July: Another day out, this time to Kingston Maurward and Lulworth Cove.

We also drove into Dorchester, hoping to stop and visit the town,
but there was no parking, so we just drove straight through it!

We set off in one direction, only to discover that we were heading towards Durdle Door,
which we thought was just a bit too far, so we turned back and went to Lulworth Cove itself.

They're everywhere!

Back in Swanage and just time to have our last walk around the immediate area.

On our final evening (and being Bruce's birthday) we returned to Chilled Red for another excellent meal.
