Vancouver Island

On 12th July, we travelled to Vancouver Island. We took a bus to Tsawwassen, then a ninety minute ferry ride to Swartz Bay.
At the departure port, there was a display of light snacks for the trip.
The ferry takes a route weaving between the Gulf Islands - the passages are very narrow, but the scenery was lovely.

Landing on the island, we first visited the famous Butchart Gardens. The bedding displays were very colourful and reminded me of gardens of the 50's.
At lunch, Bruce was joined by a humming bird!
After lunch, we took a bus to Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. A tiny city, but it has some rather grand old buildings.
On the trip home, we were accompanied for five minutes by a pod of killer whales (rotten photo, but just to prove we DID see them!)
Geoff teased Bruce for bringing his Blackberry on holiday. But what's this? Geoff has been concealing one of his own!
