More Banff : Another Day around the Town

On July 7th, Bruce's birthday, we continued our exploration of the local area. We first went to see the hoodoos, sandstone spikes created by erosion.
Then we drove to Lake Minnewanka and took a walk along the lakeside to Stewart Canyon
...where there were more beautiful wild flowers!
After lunch in the town centre, we drove to the Vermillion Lakes
We then went to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site where there was a hot spring inside the cave and a pool outside (The Basin) which contains a very rare species of snail, Physella johnsonii, which is no bigger than 5mm. We actually saw some of them!

That evening, we ate in the hotel's posh restaurant, the "Banffshire Club". The food was outstanding and we enjoyed the evening very much, despite having to consider arranging a quick remortgage of the house when the bill arrived. Below, us on the hotel patio ready for our meal, and Bruce with his pressies, including (of course!) chocolate.
